Memory chip market set to fall 24% in 2019

Year-on-year growth in the DRAM and NAND flash markets continues to oscillate wildly and will do so in 2019, the market researcher forecasts. The DRAM market was worth $99.4 billion, more than 20 percent of the overall chip market. The second largest market category was NAND flash at $59.4 million.

The combined memory market is forecast to fall by 24 percent in 2019 and this will down total IC market growth by 9 percent, according to IC Insights. Not counting memory the IC market is forecast to be flat in 2019.

The combined memory market surged by 64 percent in 2017 and despite the fourth quarter slow down the 2018 memory market grew by 26 percent, IC Insights reckons.
