MEMS-in-CMOS startup raises UK funds
The money will “power our next phase of growth,” said Nanusens CEO, Josep Montanyà i Silvestre.
Nanusens has previously raised money using crowdfunding schemes and has relocated from Spain to the UK, where it is now headquartered within the Torquay-area photonics association known as Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC). EPIC provides access to test, measurement and prototype manufacturing equipment bought specifically to support companies in the centre. This includes a Palomar Technologies die bonder and a scanning electron microscope.
EPIC director, Wayne Loschi, added: “This is a great example of the dynamism created by having a cluster of high technology companies all together and helping each other. The whole is certainly greater than the sum of the individual parts!”
Founded in 2014 by Montanyà and Marc Llamas, Nanusens has R&D offices in Barcelona, Spain and Shenzen, China, and leverages the research and expertise developed by the founders’ previous company, Baolab Microsystems
