MEMS microphone is automotive-qualified
The new microphone from Infineon’s Xensiv series is designed to help developers reduce design-in effort as well as the risk of failures during the qualification phase. The microphone’s extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C allows for flexible use in the harsh conditions in which vehicles operate. With a high acoustic overload point (AOP) of 130 dB SPL, the microphone captures audio signals without distortion even in noisy environments. This allows for flexible placement inside and outside the vehicle. The IM67D130A is therefore recommended for indoor applications, such as hands-free calling, emergency call systems, in-car communication and active noise cancellation (ANC). It can also be used for outdoor applications such as siren or road condition detection. Overall, the microphone enables sound to be used as supplementary information for advanced driver assistance systems and predictive maintenance.
The high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 67 dB combined with an exceptionally low total harmonic distortion (THD) result in optimal speech quality and best speech intelligibility for applications based on automatic speech recognition. The sensitivity of each individual microphone is calibrated within very narrow limits, the manufacturer promises. This should provide ideal conditions for optimised algorithms for multi-microphone arrangements (arrays). The IM67D130A is qualified according to the AEC-Q103-003 standard for automotive applications.
