MEMS sensor enables precise vehicle location tracking
The ASM330LHH meets the need for continuous vehicle location to support automated services and enables the calculation of the exact vehicle position based on sensor data using dead reckoning when no satellite signals are available, as is often the case in urban canyons, tunnels, road enclosures, parking garages or dense forests. The low-noise and temperature-stable design of the sensor enables reliable telematics services such as toll payment, remote diagnosis and eCall assistance.
Magneti Marelli has already selected the ASM330LHH for use in advanced telematics systems intended for factory installation in future vehicle pallets of automotive companies around the world.
Both the 3-axis acceleration sensor and 3-axis gyroscope are implemented in ST’s proprietary MEMS process; all functions are integrated on a single chip. The module is certified according to the automotive standard AEC-Q100. Reference designs are offered as well as the satellite positioning modules of the Teseo series from ST together with the associated software. The paired navigation algorithm included in the Teseo III GNSS receiver chipset already supports the ASM330LHH to produce a very precise result for autonomous navigation.
The ASM330LHH is offered in an LGA package; the compact dimensions of 3mm x 2.5mm x 0.83mm allow space-saving designs. Development samples will be available for evaluation purposes from the third quarter of 2018, production quantities in the following quarter.
