Meyer Burger Technology Group delivers a printing process to mass produce solar cells

With the PiXDRO ink jet printing technology from Roth & Rau B.V. Meyer Burger claims to be the only company worldwide offering a printing process suitable for the mass production of high efficiency solar cells in combination with electroplating. The contract also includes wafer inspection systems from Hennecke Systems, another member of the Meyer Burger Group. The total order value is around CHF3.5 million. Delivery of the equipment to the customer’s production site in Asia is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2014.
 
Meyer Burger Technology Ltd has also concluded a contract with an American customer for the delivery of inkjet printers and inspection systems for around CHF 3.5 million. The PiXDRO JETx inkjet printing system can be used for a variety of applications in the solar and electronic industries. With its fine printing technology and high-precision alignment and contactless deposition capabilities the PiXDRO JETx is the only system specifically suited for the mass production of high performance solar cells. The inkjet printing and inspection systems are planned for use in a 100 MW production facility in Malaysia. The printing systems are capable of front and rear printing up to 900 wafers per hour.
