Microchip launches I/O controllers
The family includes a low-pin count (LPC) bus interface so they are best suited to systems based on the x86 architecture for embedded and industrial applications. Industrial operating temperature ranges are supported and the family includes hardware monitoring capability of temperature, voltage and a tachyometer for fans so that these devices can be powered up or down.
Additional features include keyboard controller, serial, parallel and PS/2 ports for legacy designs and the family come with extensive flexible interfacing and GPIO in a range of BGA packages.
The SCH322X Super I/O family consists of six different products: the SCH3221, SCH3222, SCH3223, SCH3224, SCH3226 and SCH3227. The family is available now for sampling and volume production in 64-WFBGA (6mm by 6mm), 84-WFBGA (7mm by 7mm), 100-WFBGA (8mm by 8mm), and 144-WFBGA (9mm by 9mm) packages.

Typical applications include industrial automation equipment, printers, ATMs, information kiosks and point of sale terminals as well as set top boxes and thin clients.
Pricing varies between £1.16 to £1.91 in 5,000 unit quantities and the chips are generally available now or at the end of June 2016.
