Microchip, LDRA collaborate on functional safety
With the agreement, LDRA takes the function of a trusted adviser to Microchip. The partnership also provides for seamless integration of Microchip’s MPLAB X development environment with LDRA’s tool suite which ensures compliance with the abovementioned safety standards. Users benefit from the agreement since it will facilitate the compliance with these standards – without specific tools a complex and cumbersome procedure. From the Microchip side, the collaboration extends to the vendor’s line of more than 1000 microcontrollers and DSCs with 8, 16 and 32 bit architecture.
Microchip also resells the LDRA tool suite through its own channels. The software functionality extends to standards compliance, source code analysis and compliance to functional safety requirements.
In its role as trusted advisor, LDRA already has delivered multiple educational seminars and training for Microchip’s field application engineers. These seminars cover compliant application-development processes and identify the steps developers must take to enforce programming guidelines, measure code coverage and complexity, perform unit test, and verify a software application. Because the LDRA tool suite is fully integrated with Microchip’s MPLAB development software, customers can learn how to apply coding standards and automated software verification on their Microchip devices in order to achieve safety-critical compliance.
