At the EMV 2025, Rohde & Schwarz showed its HF1444G14 EMI microwave antenna with outstanding performance for the first time.

The EMI microwave antenna extends the frequency range of the Rohde & Schwarz EMC measurement antenna portfolio up to 44 GHz, enabling EMI measurements of devices in the FR2 range. It covers a frequency span from 14.9 GHz to 44 GHz, addressing the trend towards higher frequencies and accelerating and simplifying the testing of large objects in smaller chambers.

Owing to its sophisticated and innovative design, the antenna demonstrates market-leading electrical performance with high antenna gain (approximately 14 dBi at the centre frequency) and a 3 dB half-power beamwidth exceeding 28°. With a single measurement, the antenna can thoroughly illuminate an Equipment Under Test (EUT) with a cylindrical volume of 1.5 x 1.5 m from a distance of 3 m. This efficiency not only reduces measurement time, facilitating higher throughput, but also enables the antenna to be positioned closer to the EUT, thereby necessitating a smaller and more cost-efficient EMC chamber.

The antenna complies with the CISPR 16-1-4 standard and the updated CISPR 16-2-3. In the updated standard, the frequency range of 1 GHz to 18 GHz has been extended to 40 GHz, with a minimum half-power beamwidth of 28° required at 3 dB.

The new EMC antenna, in combination with the ESW44 EMI test receiver, is ideal for conducting comprehensive compliance testing up to 44 GHz. The system is designed to provide accurate and reliable measurement results quickly. The market-leading electrical performance, precise mechanical construction, and optionally available individual calibration position the new EMI antenna as a future-proof investment for EMC test laboratories and manufacturers of complex products or electronic equipment requiring EMI testing, including the automotive industry, mobile phone manufacturers, consumer electronics, industrial electronics, and more.

The HF1444G14 High-gain EMI microwave antenna will be available in mid-2025.
