In particular developments in the field of automated driving (AD) are increasing the demands on computing power and database widths for prototype systems. In the area of e-mobility, fast closed-loop behavior and precision in signal processing and generation also play an important role.

Scalexio AutoBox covers these requirements as an extension of dSPACE’s Scalexio platform and allows testing of even the most demanding functions on the road. For this purpose, the system offers state-of-the-art Intel processors, customer-programmable FPGA devices for fast calculation of complex applications, a high-performance real-time operating system, and the intelligent I/O network IOCNET, which provides low transmission latencies and a large database width.

The wide-range power supply enables a stable power supply in the typical on-board network architectures from 12 to 48 volts. This enables the Scalexio AutoBox to compensate for short-term voltage drops or peaks. The Scalexio AutoBox also has an active cooling concept and special shock and vibration decoupling for use in real driving operation.

dSPACE’s modular Scalexio AutoBox design ensures investment protection far beyond typical project durations of three to four years. The mobile prototyping system can be adapted to changing and increasing requirements and kept state-of-the-art – for example, by retrofitting future processors or plug-in cards with new interfaces.
