Modular active harmonic filters feature three level IGBT topology

The modular ecosine active sync series is aimed at harmonic mitigation tasks and can be used with any kind of non-linear load.

”Our new ecosine active sync harmonic filters offer excellent performance in solving power quality problems, achieving <5% THID even on complex mixed loads and changing load profiles,” said Alex Kamenka, Head of PQ Business Unit at Schaffner. “This range adds to the portfolio of PQ products from Schaffner, meeting the demanding requirements of our customers and their applications in a format which is easy to install and maintain.”

The ecosine active sync filter series is modular and smaller than conventional filters and can be used as stand-alone modules or as part of a complete system solution. It employs 3-Level IGBT inverter topology for reduced power losses and a 3 DI programmable Digital I/O.

Typical applications include building technology, automation industry, data and banking centres, elevators, cement industry, HVAC installations, battery chargers, oil and gas exploration, paper mills, ship propulsion, steel industry, tunnel ventilation, UPS systems, waste water treatment, welding equipment and wind turbines. 

Key features include highly effective harmonic mitigation up to the 50th order, parameter setting for even and odd harmonics, extended temperature range of modules up to +50°C, over temperature, over voltage and under voltage protection, ultra-fast and dynamic reactive power compensation (inductive and capacitive), load balancing and unloading of neutral wires, flicker compensation (if caused by reactive power), compliance with IEEE 519, EN 61000-3-12 and other power quality standards, system input 3-phase 3-wire or 3-phase 4-wire, user-friendly, compact, easy to install and maintain.
