Module Simplifies Streaming MIL-STD-1553 for Avionics Testing
The eDAQ-1553 requires no external software or special setup, saving cost and cycle time.
“Our new eDAQ-1553 allows 1553 bus data to be monitored and streamed over any Ethernet LAN,” said Ken Bisson, sales manager at AIT, a division of Teradyne. “There is no complicated setup − just apply power, attach the 1553 and Ethernet connections, configure the UDP address, and the eDAQ-1553 runs by itself. Since the output Ethernet stream conforms to the industry standard IRIG 106 Chapter 10 format, any Chapter 10 analyzer software that can monitor and display 1553 data can be used. We have given customers the freedom to choose the best MIL-STD-1553 hardware and software analyzer solutions rather than proprietary, single vendor solutions,”
The eDAQ-1553 includes the ability to monitor 100% MIL-STD-1553 databus traffic from two channels simultaneously. It handles 100% bus load on two MIL-STD-1553 channels and converts it into two IRIG 106 Chapter 10 streams, consuming 3Mbps to 4.6Mbps combined bandwidth on the LAN. Transformer and Direct bus coupling is supported, and all the MIL-STD-1553 bus data is provided with timestamps with full error detection information provided for each bus word. Onboard time-tag clock synchronization to external IRIG-B time signal
It is compatible with any IRIG 106 Chapter 10 monitoring software and generates standard streams so the output can be used by any third party Chapter 10 analyzer software.
A single eDAQ-1553 connected to a MIL-STD-1553 bus network can make all bus data availabe to any system on the LAN for capture and analysis, and the modules can act as MIL-STD-1553 Data Aquisition Units (DAU) to stream IRIG 106 Chapter 10 data to recorders or other telemetry systems on an In-vehicle network. It can also be used to make legacy bus data available to more invehicle systems by bridging MIL-STD-1553 data into an onboard Ethernet network, as the module can be configured to unicast to a single LAN host or to multicast, and the data is accessible from any host system on the LAN.
