The XENSIV TLE4999I3 is a single device that allows the development of fault-tolerant systems that have to meet the ASIL D standard. These applications include electric steering systems, electric throttle control systems, and pedal applications.

To meet ISO26262 requires continued uninterrupted operation at the system level, even if a single fault occurs. XENSIV TLE4999I3 is a monolithic design with two independent Hall elements, with separate signal paths. Internal control mechanisms carry out a plausibility check of the sensor data within the chip. The new sensor also provides extensive status information to the system.

TLE4999I3 has also been designed to offer very high magnetic sensitivity with an error tolerance of less than 2 per cent. The offset error drift is a maximum of 100µT – half that of comparable products. These parameters apply across the entire temperature range and lifetime of the product.

The TLE4999I3 can be adjusted to operate on two magnetic ranges, ±12.5 mT and 25 mT. The low values allow the use of relatively small and inexpensive magnets.

The device features a PSI5 communication interface; a current interface that requires low wiring effort and has excellent electromagnetic performance. The TLE4999I3 supports cable lengths up to a distance of 12 m. The sensor comes in a PG-SSO-3 package, which allows a high degree of flexibility due to its small space requirement and shape. The device is qualified according to AECQ100, Grade 0 and can thus be used in applications with ambient temperatures of 150°C during average operational conditions.
