With its new OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family, Infineon is expanding its product range of power MOSFETs for automotive applications. The new family combines 300mm thin wafer fabrication with innovative packaging to offer significant performance advantages in very small packages. The devices are available in a variety of rugged power packages without wiring.

This makes the MOSFETs ideal for 40 V MOSFET automotive applications such as electric power steering, braking systems, disconnect switches and new zone architectures. In addition, the products are designed for applications in battery management, e-fuse boxes as well as DC-DC converters and BLDC drives.

The new OptiMOS family members offer reduced switching losses, improved Safe Operating Area (SOA) behaviour and high avalanche robustness compared to existing MOSFETs. As a result, they facilitate the design of future high-efficiency automotive applications. The devices are available in a variety of rugged automotive power packages, including TSDSON-8, HSOF-5, HSOF-8 and Topside Cooling. The product family enables high system efficiency in the smallest footprint, the manufacturer advertises. In addition, cooling can be optimised while system costs can be reduced. The components enable simple design of products and applications with high quality.

The OptiMOS 40V family is already in volume production, with first orders available from August 2023.
