Murata set to spend $300 million on Chinese MLCC factory

Components company Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Kyoto, Japan) has started building a factory to make multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) in Wuxi, China, with a budget of 44.5 billion yen (about US$300 million).

The work is set to be completed within 18 months by April 2024. The work started on November 1, 2022, with the goal of meeting growing demand for MLCCs in the medium- to long-term.

The work is being done by Wuxi Murata Electronics Co. Ltd., the local subsidiary of Murata, which employs about 10,000 people as off September 30, 2022.
