The pricing of NAND flash memory components is weakening on the combination of weak seasonal demand and rising inventories, according to TrendForce.

The market analyst is forecasting a 1Q25 price fall of between 10 and 15 percent compared with the previous quarter.

The market demand from client solid-state drives (SSDs) – the sort that go into personal computers – is weak although demand from enterprise SSDs is holding up better. The price erosion for NAND flash into enterprise SSD will only fall between 5 and 10 percent sequentially, TrendForce reckons.

Other NAND flash memories such as UFS producrs are likely to see higher price erosion due to weak sales of consumer electronics and conservative buyer sentiment.

TrendForce said that end-of-support for Windows 10 may drive some sales of PCs but that applications for AI-PCs remain “immature” and have not prompted customers to spend.

Micron’s record revenue eclipsed by weak outlook

The market for embedded multimedia cards (eMMCs) is driven by smartphones but there makers are experiencing inventory build-up leaving suppliers forced to lower contract prices by between 13 and 18 percent, in TrendForce’s view.
