The agreement coincides with the reported acquisition of Sonics by Facebook. Sonics has not confirmed this but Sonics’ website states: ” Today, we’re excited to announce that we are moving on as a team. As part of this opportunity, we will be winding down our business.”

The original litigation alleged infringement of seven Sonics patents by Arteris, Inc. Arteris denied the infringement while challenging the validity of Sonics’ patents. The case was stayed for patent re-examination by the US Patent and Trademark Office in June of 2014 and was dismissed in March of 2019. Arteris stated that no funds changed hands.
