New controllers for panorama and defog effect
With the first generation, only the roof window was lightened or darkened by pressing a button, and now – thanks to the separation of the controller and transformer module – this function is also possible on the rear and side windows. The high voltage power supply required for this purpose takes place directly close to the glass. The advantage: no high voltage lines must be laid between the controller and the glass.
Therefore, the integration in the vehicle is much easier and lowers the system costs, especially if several panes are to be controlled. With the Active Windshield Heater Control, the company is now offering yet another product in the electro-active glazing area. The controller provides the required power in order to heat up the entire glass surface of heatable front panes effectively and efficiently. In this way, not only conventional filament heating, but also continuous heating surfaces are operated. This enables rapid defogging and in combination with PTC additional heaters it can help during defrosting.
