The increasing use of high-definition audio sources has lately increased the demand for audio equipment with a corresponding sound quality. Audio DAC chips, which convert high-resolution digital audio data into analog signals without affecting the original audio source, are among the most important components for creating high-quality audio equipment.

Rohm uses state-of-the-art D/A converter technologies optimized for true-to-life reproduction of high-definition audio sources. These DAC chips deliver the low noise and low distortion sounds (signal-to-noise ratio and THD+N characteristics) that leading audio equipment manufacturers demand. The sound quality of the ICs has been optimized through repeated listening tests and laboratory measurements.

Based on 50 years of experience in the development of audio ICs, Rohm uses the capabilities of “Sound Quality Design Technology” to realize a faithful audio reproduction close to the original sound source. This enables the company to offer products that have been developed with a focus on sound quality. This includes sound processors and power supply ICs. In May 2018, Rohm presented a first development sample of a DAC chip at the International Hi-Fi Audio Fair in Munich. This was highly appreciated by leading manufacturers of audio equipment, who showed great interest in the introduction of the IC after its commercialization.

In addition to this DAC chip, Rohm also offers a range of power supply ICs (BD372xx series) and sound processors (BD3470x series, BD34602FS-M). All products optimized for high-fidelity audio applications will be marketed under the new Rohm Musical Device “MUS-IC” brand for audio components.
