Next-gen 3D sensing technology to be demoed at CES

Offered as an alternative to older Time of Flight (ToF) and Structured Light solutions, ILT, says the company, enables the smallest, fastest, and most power-efficient 3D sensing method.

“We are pleased to demonstrate our new 3D sensing solutions that will enable exciting use cases for applications in robotics and smart phones,” says Takeo Miyazawa, Founder & CEO of Magik Eye.

Current 3D sensing methods such as structured light fundamentally require the projection of a specific or random pattern to measure the distance to an object in 3D. The result, says the company, is significant power usage, multiple components and complexity for production and ultimately translates into higher cost for the consumer.

The company’s Invertible Light technology, by contrast, projects a regular dot pattern on an object using only a projector and an image sensor. The result of this breakthrough in optics and mathematics, says the company, is the smallest, fastest, and most power-efficient 3D sensing.

Founded in 2015, the company offers a family of 3D depth sensing solutions that support a wide range of applications for smartphones, robotics. and surveillance.
