NextDroid Selects RTI’s connectivity technology for autonomous systems

NextDroid is a developer of autonomous systems for both the automotive and marine industries. It will use RTI’s technology as part of a modular software architecture to allow real-time processing of sensor data across the company’s distributed computing platform. Connext DDS will be used to provide a reliable and secure framework to communicate between the nodes and the subsystems of the vehicle.

NextDroid’s distributed computing architecture is required to pass highly varied data around the vehicle, including sensor data that can be high bandwidth and needs to be delivered in a timely fashion. The data includes control signals and event-based messages, which have differing needs for bandwidth, latency and reliability. RTI Connext DDS has been chosen to deliver that data quickly and efficiently from sensors, through software modules, to controllers, with minimal overhead.
