NextInput raises funds from Marvell co-founders
The round includes funding from Sutardja and Weili Dai, who are the husband and wife team that co-founded fabless chip company Marvell Technology Group Ltd. in 1995. Other investors in the round include Sierra Ventures, Cota Capital and UMC Capital. Intel Capital, Goertek and Steve Nasiri, founder of InvenSense, are also listed as investors in the company.
Sutardja and Dai departed their senior positions at Marvell suddenly in 2016 following an expensive court case over patent infringement with Carnegie Mellon, probes into accounting irregularities and delayed filing of accounts.
Sutardja and Dai are now referenced as the cofounders and CEO and president, respectively, of FLC Global Ltd. (Las Vegas, Nevada).
The latest round brings the amount raised by NextInput to more than $21 million. In the two years between Series A and B, NextInput has secured multiple design-wins and became a revenue company.
“The funding enables NextInput to expand its footprint into new markets with our integrated force-sensing solutions,” said Ali Foughi, NextInput founder and CEO, in a statement. “I am delighted to have Sehat Sutardja and Weili Dai as strategic investors. Their experience building a successful, global company is invaluable to us.”
