LLCP and SNEP enable peer-to-peer communication between smartphones and other mobile devices using Near Field Communication (NFC). They enable users to intuitively pass URLs and contact details, and they trigger other mobile protocols to exchange photos and other large files. LLCP defines an OSI layer-2 protocol to support peer-to-peer communication between two NFC-enabled devices. SNEP allows application messages in NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) to be exchanged between devices.

The Agilent T3111S was used to certify the first NFC Forum devices in 2012. Used in test laboratories worldwide, the Agilent NFC Conformance Test System has enabled an ever-growing number of devices from many vendors to be successfully certified. From digital protocol to analogue RF, and now with LLCP and SNEP, the T3111S system capabilities have expanded with each enhancement to NFC Forum certification.

The T3111S Test System also delivers other significant automated test suites, including EMVTM Level 1 analog RF; EMV Level 1 digital protocol; and ISO 14443, 18092, 15693 and 18000-3 testing methods.

Test can employ Agilent’s robotic manipulator to ensure repeatable spacing ot DUTs.

The NFC Forum Certification Program gives device manufacturers a means of establishing their products’ compliance with the NFC Forum’s technical specifications. The program offers increased assurance that NFC Forum-certified products are interoperable with other NFC Forum-certified products. It also supports consistency in the behaviour of NFC devices by confirming that products conform to NFC Forum specifications.
