Nordic’s nRF52840 multi-protocol SoC available from Mouser
Based on Nordic’s nRF52 Series architecture and compatible with Nordic’s existing nRF52 Series, nRF51 Series, and nRF24 Series products, the Nordic nRF52840 SoC supports complex Bluetooth low energy and other low-power wireless protocols.
The nRF52840 SoC is based around a 64MHz, 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4F processor, plus a CPU with 1 Mbyte Flash and 256 Kbytes RAM, FPU and DSP performance. The SoC also features Arm TrustZone CryptoCell-310 cryptographic accelerator for enhanced security.
The nRF52840 SoC complies with the Bluetooth 5 specification, which supports the addition of extra output power to offer BLE connectivity with up to 4X range or 2X raw data bandwidth (2 Mbps) compared with BLE implementations of Bluetooth 4.2. The nRF52840 SoC also includes NFC-A tag support plus IEEE 802.15.4 capabilities for Zigbee- and Thread-based smart home technologies or as a Network Adaptation Layer with 6LoWPAN and standard internet protocols.
Developers can start designs with the Nordic nRF52840 Preview Development Kit, which includes an onboard nRF52840 SoC and four user-programmable buttons and LEDs, is hardware compatible with the Arduino Uno R3-based shields, and features connector pins for all inputs and outputs (I/O) and interfaces.
