Nordic’s Thingy:91 is similar to the Thingy:52, but adds cellular connectivity to Bluetooth®connectivity, making it ideal for kickstarting cellular Internet of Things (IoT) projects. The battery-operated Thingy:91 is built around the Nordic nRF9160 system in package (SiP), which supports LTE-M, NB-IoT, and GPS, and an nRF52840 board controller that supports Bluetooth Low Energy and NFC capabilities. The nRF9160 SiP integrates a full front-end RF system as well as a complete power management system.
Applications for the Thingy:91 include logistics and asset tracking, metering, smart city and smart agriculture, predictive maintenance, Industry 4.0, wearables, and medical devices.
