Nvidia adds genAI voice control to automotive VR tool

Nvidia has been researching techniques to add generative AI voice control to VR for automotive design.

The research uses a combination of a large language model (LLM) voice to text model for the voice control with a pre-established set of commands and a Python progrtamming interface to the VR display. The research was on display at the GTC conference this week in California.

This allows voice control of the commands for the tool  such as opening doors, changing the colour or materials of the design and even drilling down to individual layers of the design, which can be a detailed digital twin.

This can also be linked to a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) model that takes existing documentation about the design and can generate answers to quires such as providing data about the different elements in the vehicle.
