Delayed smartphone introductions and the ban on supplying Huawei is hurting Qualcomm which nonetheless saw a 6.7 percent annual revenue growth. Broadcom was even more adversely hit by escalating tensions between China and the US so that its sales declined by 6.8 percent YoY in 2Q20.

Nvidia has folded in revenue from its Mellanox acquisition which more than made up from softness in the automotive market. The strength of datacenter due to work-from-home and lockdown measures saw it post a 47.1 percent year-on-year jump. Advanced Micro Devices which is increasingly beating Intel in the x86 marketplace also did well with 26.2 percent growth. It’s Ryzen and EPYC processors have received an excellent reception in the notebook and server markets, respectively.

The Covid-19 pandemic took a heavy toll on the global automotive market, leading to a decline in Xilinx’s automotive revenue. Xilinx registered a double-digit YoY quarterly decline. Likewise, Dialog saw decreased revenue from its custom mixed-signal IC, leading to a YoY decrease of 10.1 percent in overall 2Q20 revenue.
