NVMe SSDs target high-end client, data center applications
Based on Toshiba Memory’s 96 Layer BiCS FLASH 3D TLC (3-bit per cell), the ultra-thin XG6-P SSDs offer customers high performance and storage density. The memory devices include a PCIe Gen 3 interface with 4 lanes (Revision 3.1a) and an NVMe interface (Revision 1.3a) and offer up to 3,180MB/s sequential read and up to 2,920MB/s sequential write speeds. Random read speed is up to 355,000 and random write speed up to 365,000 IOPS.
With a power consumption of less than 5 watts, the XG6-P SSDs offer an excellent performance-to-energy consumption ratio. “With twice the capacity of the XG6, higher write speeds than the XG5-P, lower power consumption and a smaller form factor than the XD5 designed for data centers, the new XG6-P series offers another M.2-NVMe storage option for optimizing client solutions or data center environments,” promoted Paul Rowan, Vice President SSD Business Unit, Toshiba Memory Europe.
The 2TB XG6-P SSD is available in an M.2-2280 form factor (22 x 80mm), single-sided, and with security options such as TCG Pyrite Version 1.0 for Non-SED (Self-Encrypting Drive) configurations and TCG Opal Version 2.01 for SED implementations.
