The certification allows Globalfoundries to produce chips for financial transactions, smart cards, digital ID and products for the public sector that require an extra level of security and integrity in the production process.

Globalfoundries has invested multimillion euros over the last two years to upgrade security and IT systems helped by NXP Semiconductors as a driver of the certification process. The certification allows Globalfoundries to manufacture secure, connected products using its FDSOI, 22FDX manufacturing process.

“The BSI has attested that all our systems and processes conform to the highest standards of the international Common Criteria ISO norm,” said Thomas Morgenstern, the head of Globalfoundries Dresden, in a statement. “We are committed to being the most trusted and secure foundry partner for our customers.”
