Both product families are released for serial production. The SJA1105x transceiver and the TJA1102 Ethernet switch can be used independently of each other or together. Together they form a highly optimized Ethernet subsystem. Original AUTOSAR drivers are available for this purpose, which cover the entire range of functions of the chip.

NXP is actively promoting the standardisation of Ethernet for vehicles and is currently launching the next generation of Ethernet. Some of the major car manufacturers have already begun to use this new Ethernet solution for the next generation of their car models. NXP leverages its network technologies and extensive experience to provide leading automotive manufacturers with Ethernet solutions at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

The BMW Group was one of the first car manufacturers to introduce Ethernet on the road. As co-founder and one of the spokespersons of the OPEN Alliance SiG, NXP is instrumental in establishing Ethernet as a vendor-independent standard in automotive applications and enabling forward-looking car manufacturers such as the BMW Group to implement Ethernet architectures on a 100 MBit basis. The flexibility of NXP’s extended Ethernet portfolio enables scalable platform concepts that meet all the requirements of the BMW Group and the entire automotive industry for such a network.

Market research firm Strategy Analytics expects that by 2023 there will be more than 500 million such Ethernet sockets.
