In his new role, Reger will report directly to NXP President Kurt Sievers and David Reed, the company’s Executive Vice President of Operations. He will be responsible for technical direction, management of business innovation processes and IP generation, cross-divisional strategic planning and management of key safety and security competence centers.

“As CTO of NXP, I am excited to continue to develop the innovation and technology roadmap for NXP’s diverse businesses – from cars to mobile devices and industry 4.0 to the Internet of Things, communications and infrastructure,” said Reger. The new corporate CTO sees huge business potential for his company in these market segments. “After all, all smart devices, whether cleaning robots or self-driving e-cars, stand on the same feet: they all need sensors, processors, networking and smart actuators – combined with first-class safety standards. In addition to the scalability of our platforms across various markets, I can see that NXP can benefit considerably from edge computing in particular.”

Most recently, Reger was CTO of the Automotive division and headed the research and development activities in the automotive sector as well as the new customer business. Prior to joining NXP, he served as Director of Business Development and Product Management in the Connectivity business unit at Continental, Division Manager in Process Technology and Product Development at Infineon, and in various IP and Engineering functions at Infineon and Siemens.
