On the smartphone or tablet computer, an app receives the data, processes them and displays the current status including error messages and faults. The app is obtainable free of charge for iOS and Android. Besides displaying vehicle data, the app also can remind the user of imminent inspections. In addition, it enables the owner of the vehicle to allow a garage or workshop to perform remote diagnosis. What’s more, the device offers the functionality of a WiFi hotspot within and around the vehicle.
Since golo2 monitors the status of the vehicle systems around the clock it detects problems in real-time and notifies immediately the users. In rental campers, the owner receives a message to his smartphone specifying the damage. In addition, the user has the option to request remote maintenance. Towards this end, the OBD2 dongle connects wirelessly with a tablet in the garage running the diagnosis application.
Since the dongle contains a SIM card, it can build up a wireless connection to the internet for up to eight different persons, enabling travellers to communicate with friends from abroad.
