According to South Korean news site ET News, the new research centre will focus on the development of OLED-based wearable light therapy devices, replacing LEDs in a variety of disease treatments.
KAIST aims to develop a wide range of human body-based phototherapy technologies, leveraging the benefits of thin, uniform and conformable OLED light sources to replace bulkier rigid LED-based versions.
It is expected that lightweight wearable OLED light therapy devices would allow patients to receive their light therapy at home instead of having to visit a dedicated centre.
