Axsem was founded in 2000 and has developed several RF ICs for high-volume communications including for SigFox, EnOcean, wireless M-Bus and proprietary standards. These RF transceivers complement ON Semiconductor’s existing 2.4-GHz (ZigBee) and wired (MBus, KNX and HART) offerings.
The Axsem portfolio supports the Internet of Things (IoT), automatic meter reading, home automation, sensor networks, and satellite communication markets. According to Bob Klosterboer, EVP, Application Products Group at ON Semi, "Adding AXSEM’s low-power RF chips, microcontroller technologies, and system experience to our Applications Product Group is another step towards expanding the company’s presence in the high-growth Industrial IoT segment."
