Traditionally, power stages in applications such as solar power inverters, UPS inverter stages and industrial variable frequency drives (VFD) have been built from discrete IGBTs / MOSFETs with dedicated drivers and additional discrete components. The PIMs integrate field stop trench IGBTs and fast recovery diodes that provide lower conduction and switching losses and enable designers to tradeoff between low VCE (SAT) and low EON/EOFF losses to optimise circuit performance in servers, data centres, artificial intelligence accelerators and telecommunications equipment.

The FDMF3170 Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) use the company’s next generation Smart Power Stage (SPS) technology with fully optimised integrated MOSFETs with driver IC current and temperature sensors, for high-current, high frequency, and synchronous buck DC-DC converters.Read the full press release. 

Automotive IPMs improve overall performance in on-board charging (OBC) and other high-voltage DC-DC conversion applications for electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The FAM65xxxx IPMs also offer improved reliability versus discretes and other power modules due to an optimized BoM and internal layout resulting in higher thermal performance. Lower electromagnetic interference (EMI) has been reached thanks to an integrated high voltage capacitor. All devices adhere to AECQ 101 and AQG324.
