The solution is IP-67 environmentally sealed, ensuring moisture and dust protection in the harshest environments.  Molex brings the QMD solution to its customers through a licensing agreement with Radiall SA for its next generation One Step Interconnect Solution (OSIS) fibre to the antenna interconnect technology, ensuring full interoperability of both manufacturers’ product offerings.

The Molex QMD solution will be supplied as part of a factory assembled and tested cable assembly or as a connector kit that can be applied to a customer built cable assembly or an existing on-site assembly. The QMD eliminates the need for multiple steps to mate the internal LC duplex connector, simplifying all aspects of installation and maintenance.

The scoop-proof design reduces potential damage to the optical connector due to impact with a hard surface. The spring-loaded Z-axis travel of the internal LC connector ensures proper mating to the SFP optical transceiver over a wide mounting tolerance. The high-impact and lightweight thermoplastic housing withstands extreme temperatures up to 80ºC and accommodates both multimode and single-mode fibre.
