Standex-Meder’s ATEX optocouplers for intrinsically safe circuits is tested and certified for extreme/harsh environments such as potentially explosive atmospheres so they will not become an ignition point when subjected to short circuits or adjacent component failures. Markets the optocouplers will benefit include, but are not limited to oil and gas production, refinery, fracking, bio energy, mining, geothermal, medical, test and measurement, and others.

These optocouplers support analogue and digital signal transfer is possible, with marginal coupling capacities between input and output. Their isolation resistance between input and output is up to 1013 Ω, they will couple 10 MHz rates, and can tolerate I/O potential differences up to 20 KV. Also, Standex-Meder’s optocouplers are able to invert the output signal during transfer, there is a lifetime factor increased by a factor of 10 if the LED is used with less than 50% of the nominal current, and they are resistant against voltage drop.
