Organic QD startup shows 55-inch display
MolecuLED is a color conversion film that is much lower cost to quantum dot film and is environmentally friendly, StoreDot said.
The company claims this is the only fully organic solution positioned to replace traditional quantum dots in displays. It is an organic color-conversion layer that delivers a competitive color gamut that is free of heavy metals such as cadmium and indium. The 55-inch demonstrator display demonstrates the viability of LCD and MolecuLED to supplant LED, OLED and AMOLED displays, StoreDot claimed in a statement.
Back in 2013 StoreDot was in talks with Samsung over the commercialization of its nanotechnology (see Samsung spots startup’s quantum-dot potential). Samsung was not mentioned in the latest announcement.
Doron Myersdorf, founder and CEO of StoreDot, said his company is “eager to partner with leading TV manufacturers to bring this technology to the masses.”
