Osram’s SMT LEDs shrink to 1.6×0.8×0.6mm
ThinGaN, thin film and Sapphire, the Topled E1608 LEDs are all based on the latest chip technologies, delivering 3.6 times the brightness of their predecessor models at 20mA operation. The pure green conversion version, for example, outputs 780mcd at 10mA. At the same current it is three times brighter than the classic Topled. The E1608 in the name refers to the more compact package dimensions of 1.6×0.8mm; by comparison, the standard Topled currently measures 3.2×2.8mm. At 0.6mm the height of the E1608 is also considerably less than 1.9mm for the previous models. Osram plans to manufacture the new Topled generation in numerous colours – from yellow and orange to super red, white, pure green and true green. The current market launch of six Topled E1608 products is the start of a whole series of new versions in this product family. In the course of 2017 more new versions will be successively launched.
