
Panasonic sues Broadcom over semiconductor patents
Panasonic Holdings Corp. (Osaka, Japan) filed lawsuits against chip company Broadcom Corp. in the western district of Texas alleging patent infringement on Thursday July 7.
Panasonic alleges that Broadcom – a top ten chip company with annual sales of $27 billion in 2021 – produces microprocessors, ICs and components used in wireless networking that infringe multiple patents. Panasonic is seeking unspecified financial damages and a court order prohibiting Broadcom from infringing Panasonic’s patent rights.
According to reports Panasonic said in court that Broadcom had refused to discuss the licensing of Panasonic’s patent portfolio.
Neither Panasonic nor Broadcom have commented on the court action on their websites.
