Panasonic VR headset doubles the field-of-view
To accommodate the larger field of view and maintain excellent resolution, the prototype is built up with four LCD panels each featuring 1600×1440 pixels, two in the front and two on the sides. The optics have also been doubled up, with specially designed lenses that widen the field of view by giving access to two screens per eye (the ones in front and the temporal ones).
Another distinction versus many other VR headsets is the use of bone conduction sound pads instead of traditional headphones, so the wearer can still hear what goes on around, a feature that may be useful in some training applications.
