Parasoft moves to support MISRA-C 2025
Parasoft in the US is accelerating the release of its C/C++test 2025.1 software following the publication of the MISRA-C:2025 coding specification for safety-critical systems.
The latest MISRA-C guidelines, for example, resolve ambiguity with AI-generated code status by clarifying that AI-generated code should be treated the same as handwritten code.
The Parasoft extension for VS Code uses GenAI to accelerate the resolution of MISRA and other standards violations. With a single click, developers can access a context-sensitive violation explanation and code-fix proposition that automatically replaces the violating code.
MISRA C:2025 is designed to lower compliance overhead by removing obsolete rules and reinforcing coding best practices. In particular, functional safety is enhanced through stricter rules on unions and pointers that decrease undefined behaviour risks. In addition, developers now have increased flexibility to terminate switch clauses (e.g., return, continue), allowing them to streamline audits while avoiding time-consuming re-work.
Slated for availability in May 2025, Parasoft C/C++2025.1 will ensure a smooth transition to the latest MISRA C guidelines, resulting in reduced compliance cost and complexity. Customers in heavily regulated industries, including automotive, aerospace and defense, medical, industrial automation, and railway, will benefit from this rapid response and early opportunity to develop source code in alignment with the latest MISRA rules.

The availability of specialized reports, including the Guidelines Enforcement Plan, Recategorization Plan, Deviations Report, and Compliance Summary, reducing audit efforts and eliminating stress.
