Partnership facilitates the implementation of 3D optical sensing
The two companies will coordinate to integrate ams’ 3D optical sensing systems and Face++ technologies. They will also collaborate on providing co-ordinated system-level technical support to manufacturers.
This partnership will allow manufacturers to get to market more quickly with systems including features, such as face recognition, facial payments, Animoji creation and augmented/virtual reality. The partnership’s 3D optical sensing solutions use infrared light projectors to map the surface of real-world objects.
This is the second partnership in the area that has been announced by ams recently. In November last year, the company announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies for the joint development of face recognition technology for mobile phones based on ams IR illuminator modules and Qualcomm mobile application processors.
