PC-based simulation platform makes design process more efficient
VEOS runs on standard PCs, offering function designers, software architects and ECU testers numerous new options for early verification. For instance, functions implemented in Simulink can be integrated on the computer early in the process and their interplay with adjacent functions can be tested. In addition, during the development of complex control strategies VEOS acts as constant virtual test stand with powerful models for engine and driving dynamics. Complex models describing the vehicle and its environment can be integrated with virtual control units, thus enabling designers to simulate and test an entire virtual vehicle. ECU testers can prepare HiL (hardware-in-the-loop) simulations and create models and tests on the PC, independent of the HiL system.
VEOS is entangled with other dSpace products, the company said. For this reason, the systems vendor can offer a comprehensive tool chain for design and test processes. This, in turn, enables designers to reuse tools and models typically utilized for Rapid Control Prototyping and HiL simulations in the virtual PC environment. Likewise, HiL simulation layouts can be reused in a PC-based simulation and vice versa. With its open interfaces, VEOS enables users to connect the platform to existing tools.
