PCB design goes into the Cloud
The latest version of the company’s design environment brings with it Alitum Vaults and Altium Live; two features intended to increase productivity and improve data management.
It takes the role of Altium Designer beyond the desktop and in to the cloud, and the company has stated it intends to develop further cloud-based services that it believes are necessary for the future of a connected community.
Using the cloud concept for creating communities were data is stored, modified and exchanged much more quickly and efficiently is a recurring theme today; Altium believes it is taking the first steps towards becoming an important cloud-based services provider for the engineering community.
Altium Designer 10 becomes the front-end to the community, with Altium Live providing some of the underlying connectivity management. Within the cloud, data will be stored and shared within vaults; secure areas that may reside on a customers own server or hosted by Altium’s partner, Emerson.
Access to live data underpins the concept and the platform allows engineers to connect directly to distribution partners, often using their own account details, in order to get the very latest information while they’re developing.
