Pest spraying drone eradicates Asian hornets
The Spray Hornet drone is designed to help locate and destroy Asian hornet nests or other dangerous nests of wasps using an extremely precise spray technology, allowing for the least possible harm to the environment. The drone is equipped with a tilting aerosol jet that allows the user to aim the spray at the central part of the nest where the insects are located.
The Spray Hornet was designed with the help of a beekeeper, Etienne Roumailhac, who has sought an alternative to traditional methods of dealing with the Asian hornet, with as little negative environmental impact as possible, using products that contained no sulfur.
The quadcopter drone weighs about 3 kg (7 lb), carries up to a 750-ml can of insecticide, and has a battery life of up to 18 minutes. It is equipped with an GoPro 4 Black Edition HD camera and an emergency parachute.
