poLight and Movidius partner to bring 3D digital cameras to mobiles
Thanks to its speed, the poLight device called “TLens” (Tunable Lens) will boost camera module performance (response time is 20x faster than traditional VCM technologies) while consuming 40x less power consumption to preserve battery life in continuous autofocus mode. Those significant improvements will enable new mobile applications such as Instant Focus or All-in-Focus that are currently not possible due to VCM performance limitations but also other 3D applications such as high quality 3D video capture. Users will be able to generate high quality 3D video and photos with dual camera smartphones. This capability has been demonstrated by multi-core processor specialist Movidius.
