The deal follows a number of acquisitions by Stadium to grow in complementary niche technologies. “The acquisition of Cable Power brings complementary bolt-on supply chain products to our portfolio that enhance our offering, primarily in the power products space,” said Charlie Peppiatt, CEO of Stadium Group. “There is a great deal of synergy between the product portfolios of our power division Stadium Stontronics and Cable Power, and we work with many of the same customers in the global electronics distribution sector including RS Components, Rapid Electronics, Farnell, CPC and Raspberry Pi.”

“The deal supports our strategy to build a leading design-led electronic technology solutions group with a portfolio of value-adding complementary products and integration capabilities, supported from a global footprint to simplify the supply chain and reduce time to market for our customers,” he said.

Cable Power will join Stadium’s Power division, Stadium Stontronics, based at the Group’s Regional Fulfilment Centre (RFC) in Reading, UK.

Cable’s Power division focuses on providing tailored power systems for commercial and industrial markets, from plugtop and desktop supplies to USB and international versions. It can also design and manufacture form, fit and function replacements where either a performance upgrade is required, or a standard custom design is needed to replace several standard products to reduce manufacturing and inventory costs. This includes mechanical re-packaging of existing items as well as units that need to meet very specific electronic performance requirements, or improvements on an existing design. The division also offers bespoke power supplies to meet specialized industry requirements and has access to a design laboratory including a full climatic test chamber, extended life testing and cycle testing of new designs and a purpose-built RFI test laboratory, including transient and surge testing capability.

“Stadium Stontronics’ extensive range of power products, strong supplier network and established distribution partnerships complements the Cable Power offering, meaning we can deliver synergies, economies of scale and a much stronger proposition to our mutual customers. I am delighted to bring Cable Power to Stadium Group and I look forward to working with the team,” said James Downes, Managing Director of Cable Power.
