Power inductors for ADAS applications have very small footprint
According to TDK, there is currently no thin-film metal core power inductance on the market with an area requirement of less than 9 mm2 that can be connected directly to the battery. In contrast, the new TFM252012ALVA, which is designed for a rated voltage of 40 V, has a much smaller footprint than 9 mm2. This was achieved thanks to TDK’s specific material technology and design. This makes it possible to use the new inductor in power modules connected directly to the 12 V battery.
More and more electronic assemblies are being used in vehicles to perform control and other functions, such as in-vehicle information or autonomous driving. The number of modules used to implement Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is also constantly increasing. The demand for inductors for these assemblies is growing accordingly. Since the space on the printed circuit boards is limited and the number of components used is constantly increasing, there is a continuously growing demand for components with a small footprint that offer high performance and reliability. TDK intends to satisfy these market requirements with components such as the new TFM252012ALVA inductor.
