Plastic chip maker Pragmatic Semiconductor has appointed a new chief executive to scale up its semiconductor foundry business. Current CEO Scott White will continue to lobby for more support for the UK semiconductor industry and remains on the board.
“I’m still full-time focused on growing Pragmatic’s business,” said White, who will be Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives. “Handing over the CEO role gives me more time to focus on key strategic initiatives where I can add most value, while enhancing our overall executive leadership as we continue to scale.”
New CEO David Moore (above) is originally from Dublin, Ireland, and joins from memory maker Micron Technology where he was Chief Strategy Officer. Before that he was General Manager of the Programmable Solutions Group at Intel where he led the FPGA and Structured ASIC business after the acquisition of Altera where he spent over fifteen years.

“I am delighted to welcome Dave to Pragmatic at this exciting time for the company. I am confident that he will enable Pragmatic to scale its foundry capacity to become a global leader in the semiconductor industry and will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision of electronics in everything,” said Erik Langaker, chairman of the board at Pragmatic.
Pragmatic has its headquarters in Cambridge, UK, with a production facility making flexible integrated circuits in Sedgefield, Co. Durham, UK. A second fab is under construction at a new 15-acre Pragmatic Park site in Durham, UK. Once this second fab is complete, Pragmatic will be the highest volume semiconductor manufacturer in the UK.
The company is also leading projects on measuring the sustainability of semiconductor process technology and is in production with millions of RFID chips. It has also worked on several flexible processor designs.

Under his leadership the company has gone from its inception 12 years ago to where it is now. It has a blue-chip partner and customer base, with a clear demand for Pragmatic’s flexible integrated circuits.”
