Featuring the ARM Cortex-M0+ based MCU, the FRDM-KL46Z Freedom development platform costs $15 and offers design engineers a low cost evaluation development system perfect for exploring the capabilities of the Kinetis KL46Z MCUs and is available through Newark element14 in North America, Farnell element14 in Europe, and element14 in Asia Pacific.
Designed for remote controls, thermostats, digital timers and portable consumer devices requiring long battery life, enhanced onboard memory and an LCD display and/or USB interface, the feature rich platform allows for quick application prototyping and offers MCU I/O, battery-ready, low-power operation, with expansion board options and a built-in debug interface for flash programming and run-control.
The FRDM-KL46Z hardware is also form-factor compatible with the Arduino R3 pin layout, providing a broad range of expansion board options. The on-board interfaces includes a 4 digit segment LCD, a 3-axis digital accelerometer, a magnetometer, a capacitive touch slider, and an ambient light sensor.
